Meet the Principal
ADAM SWINFORD
I come from a family of educators and am a product of FWCS. I saw my father, who worked in FWCS for 40 years, make an impact as a teacher and then an Administrator. This was something that I felt passionate about and I wanted to follow in his footsteps.
As the building principal, I can impact everything that happens. It's fulfilling to be able to work with teachers, students, parents, and the Northrop Community.
With Northrop having the distinction as the largest FWCS High School, we can offer a multitude of things to our student body. We have robust academic programs along with fine/performing arts and 23 IHSAA sponsored sports. We also focus on student's interests with 21 clubs that are held after school hours. We pride ourselves in having something for everyone at Northrop High School!
I am a proud product of FWCS having attended Pleasant Center Elementary, Miami Middle, and Wayne High. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Saint Francis and master’s degree from Indiana University Fort Wayne. I have been employed by FWCS since 1999. After successfully teaching in elementary, middle, and high school, I moved into Administration. I have 4 years of experience as an Athletic Director, 1 year as an Assistant Principal, and the past 15 years as a building Principal at two FWCS Middle Schools as well as South Side High.
I have been married to my wife Jessica for almost 25 years and we have two beautiful daughters Reagan and Peyton. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family (including our two Beagles) and watching college and professional sports.
